Location: The Erojacks are located about 1800 feet north of the Dania Beach Pier. They run east-west and are about 300 feet offshore, directly in front of the white post that says “JAX” on the beach. They run for about 1,500 feet out. Offshore, the reef terminates at the first natural reef line (parallel to shore).

Description:The Erojacks are an artificial reef constructed of dolos, concrete objects that resemble jacks children play with, except these are about five feet tall and were placed there during WWII to prevent beach erosion. The reefs are less than 20 feet deep.

Notes For this Snorkel: This is the first time I’ve been snorkeling in over a year due to issues from being shot in the leg some years go. Today was a test to see if I’m able to resume paddleboard snorkeling. I did very well in the water but the walk to and from my car put me in a lot of pain. I’m already planning more paddleboard snorkels at places that I’m able to park much closer to the ocean.

Visibility on this day was decent with little current. Would have liked to have spent more time exploring them but the ocean started getting choppy so headed back to shore.
